In our musical world, there are some of the best rock and roll legends that have ever lived. Elvis Presley, Kurt Cobain, Jimmy Hendricks and Bruce Springsteen. But there are another breed of rockers, the female rockers. Patti Smith, Janis Joplin, Joan Jett and Pat Benatar just to name a few.

Some of the greatest rockers were women; they had and still do a certain edge that makes you proud to listen to their music. From the past to the present, female rockers rightly deserve their place in rock and roll history.

Janis liberated women with her music, she made women feel important and that they rightly deserved to be in this world. After all, her time was in the 60’s when women were just becoming free and more comfortable in their skin. They were getting out of the house more than they did in the 50’s.

All of the female rockers from the past have been the influences for today’s female musicians. Without them we wouldn’t have Avril Lavigne or Liz Phair and Sarah McLaughlin.

Today we are grateful for the roles that female rockers have played in rock and roll history. They have paved the way for the rockers or today and for tomorrow.
