Patti Smith was born on December 30, 1946. Her style of music is classified as punk meets poet. Patti Smith has not had the same type of success that other female rockers have had.

She has only been in the top 20 one time and her success is limited to the commercial arena. She is well known for bringing feminism to the world of rock and roll. But her music is still classified as punk music.

Although she is well regarded as one of the most influential females in the music industry she has yet to be named to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Patti Smith

Pat Benatar had to have been one of the most popular pop/rock female vocalists of the 80’s. Her strong voice and aggressive sexiness boosted her into stardom and made us all fall in love with her pop/rock styling.

Pat Benatar, born on January 10th, 1953 as Patricia Andrzejewski, was raised in Long Island, NY. Her singing career really started off in the 70’s. She was spotted at Catch a Rising Star, a club in the New York City area, and was signed by Chrysalis Records.
