Patti Smith

Patti Smith was born on December 30, 1946. Her style of music is classified as punk meets poet. Patti Smith has not had the same type of success that other female rockers have had.

She has only been in the top 20 one time and her success is limited to the commercial arena. She is well known for bringing feminism to the world of rock and roll. But her music is still classified as punk music.

Although she is well regarded as one of the most influential females in the music industry she has yet to be named to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Patti SmithRecently, Rolling Stone Magazine named Patti as number 47 out of 100 of the Greatest Artist of all time.
Patti was signed by Clive Davis the Ceo and Mega Producer of Arista Records in 1975.

Later that year Patti released her first album release titled Horses.

Patti’s album and all other albums following that one has the same style, punk with some spoken poetry.

Some times the poetry was a little controversial but it was well received.

After the death of her husband, her friends encouraged her to record again and sure enough she did, she released Horses, Horses in 2005.

Patti still does some touring around the U.S and is still a little controversial but still as popular as she ever was.
